Code of Conduct

Last updated: 2nd June 2024

Purpose

Rabble Games is committed to creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members, participants, coaches, staff, and volunteers. This Code of Conduct outlines the expected standards of behaviour to ensure everyone feels welcome, valued, and able to enjoy their involvement in the club.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all activities, events, and interactions associated with Rabble Games, both during and outside of sessions. It covers all forms of communication, including verbal, written, and electronic.

Principles

The following principles underpin our Code of Conduct:

  • Respect: We treat everyone with dignity, courtesy, and consideration, regardless of their age, disability, sex, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, and any other personal characteristic – including characteristics protected under The Equality Act 2010.
  • Inclusion: We welcome and value diversity, ensuring everyone feels included and able to participate fully in club activities.
  • Safety: We prioritise the physical and emotional safety of all members, creating a supportive environment where everyone feels protected from harm.
  • Fair Play: We uphold the spirit of sportsmanship, promoting fair competition, honesty, integrity, and respect for the rules of the game.
  • Positive Environment: We foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere, where everyone feels supported and motivated to achieve their best.

Expected Behaviours

All members, participants, instructors, staff, and volunteers are expected to:

  • Be respectful in all interactions, avoiding any form of harassment, discrimination, bullying, or offensive behaviour.
  • Use inclusive language that avoids stereotypes or generalisations, and does not demean or exclude anyone based on their personal characteristics.
  • Create a safe environment by reporting any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of others to the designated Safeguarding Lead (see Reporting below), and by following all safety rules and guidelines.
  • Play fair by adhering to the rules of the game, respecting opponents, and avoiding any form of cheating or unsportsmanlike conduct.
  • Be positive and encouraging towards others, providing support and motivation to help everyone achieve their best.

Unacceptable Behaviours

The following behaviours are strictly prohibited:

  • Harassment or discrimination in any form, including verbal, physical, or sexual harassment, as well as discrimination based on any protected characteristic under The Equality Act 2010.
  • Bullying or intimidation, including verbal abuse, threats, or any other behaviour that creates a hostile or intimidating environment.
  • Any behaviour that endangers the safety or wellbeing of others, including physical violence, reckless behaviour, or failure to follow safety rules and guidelines.
  • Cheating, unsportsmanlike conduct, or any other behaviour that violates the spirit of fair play.
  • Use of drugs or alcohol in a manner that impairs judgement or behaviour, or that endangers the safety of others.

Consequences

Any violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion from the club. The severity of the consequences will depend on the nature and severity of the violation, as well as any previous offences.

Reporting and Enforcement

All members, participants, instructors, staff, and volunteers have a responsibility to report any concerns about violations of this Code of Conduct both during and outside of Rabble sessions.

Reports are to be made to:

  • David Austin and/or Maria Marklove
  • You can also report an incident to a Rabble Instructor. Their duty is to pass this information to David Austin and Maria Marklove as soon as possible.

The club will then investigate all matters promptly and confidentially, taking appropriate action to address any violations, and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all members.

Review and Updates

This Code of Conduct will be reviewed and updated yearly to ensure it remains relevant and effective in promoting a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members.

By joining and participating in Rabble Games, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and to uphold the values and principles it represents.
